With regard to Steve Hochman's review of the "Oar" tribute album (Record Rack, July 10), Skip Spence did indeed play drums with Jefferson Airplane.
But it was as a guitar player in MobyGrape that he helped create their wonderful guitar-driven sound, with Don Stevenson supplying the beat.
