Chinese Official Says Congress Is Meddling in IOC Business

Rebecca Mardis of Laurel County, Ky., has filed suit in Las Vegas against Dennis Rodman, claiming the former Laker assaulted her a Las Vegas resort lobby.

American sprinters broke a string of German victories by sweeping the 100-meter dashes in an international track and field meet at Chemnitz, Germany. Dennis Mitchell won the men's 100 in 10.17 seconds. The women's 100 went to Zundra Feagin, who won in 11.55.

Sergei Gontchar powered to victory in a time trial at cycling's Tour of Italy, and Laurent Jalabert failed in his bid to overtake Marco Pantani in the overall standings.

Former UCLA basketball coach John Wooden and Dodger coach Manny Mota are among the professional athletes and coaches who will participate in a sports day with developmentally handicapped students June 14 at the Lokrantz Special Education Center in Reseda.
