Seal Beach

May 04, 1999|Harrison Sheppard, (714) 966-5977

The City Council's representative to the Orange County Fire Authority will vote against implementing the proposals of a controversial equity study that seeks to rework the payments made by authority members. The council recently voted to "receive and file" the report--essentially acknowledging it but declining to act on its recommendations. The study, which was recently revised, calls for Seal Beach to increase its payments by $50,318 for almost five years. Council member Shawn Boyd, who sits on the OCFA board, recently wrote to board chairman Mike Ward that the city is "extremely disappointed and frankly shocked" to see that the study's figures had been changed after a number of cities had already voted on their recommendations.
