The Villa Park Family Picnic will take place May 23 at Irvine Lake, 4621 Santiago Canyon Road. The noon to 6 p.m. event includes food sales as well as pony rides, a petting zoo, clowns, fishing, hiking, games, police and fire displays, magic shows, strolling quartets and other activities. The Villa Park High School Jazz Ensemble and singer Jayme Harper will perform. The "Kids Love Music" group will conduct family sing-alongs.

A group of residents, with the help of City Hall and some county businesses, are putting on the event. Tickets cost $2 and may be purchased at City Hall, 17855 Santiago Blvd.; Phil's 76 Station, 17771 Santiago Blvd.; and the Villa Park Pharmacy, 17821 Santiago Blvd. Volunteers also will sell the tickets in front of Ralphs at 17801 Santiago Blvd. on May 15 and 16. Admission to the picnic is free for children 5 and younger.
