Lancaster Falls to High Desert

Dan Meyer had three hits to help the High Desert Mavericks defeat Lancaster, 13-3, in a California League game Tuesday night in Adelanto.

Maverick starter Vincente Padilla allowed four hits and struck out 10 in 6 2/3 innings.

Outfielder Matt Sachse is returning to Lancaster after batting .113 in 27 games for double-A New Haven. Sachse batted .267 with eight home runs and 45 runs batted in for the JetHawks last season. . . . Lancaster third baseman Luis Figueroa was California League player of the week for May 3-9 after going 16 for 28 (.571). Figueroa ranks fifth in the league with a .335 average.

Roberge (St. Francis) drove in the winning run with a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the ninth to lift Omaha (Royals) over Tucson, 5-4.

Double A--Reliever Erik Hiljus (Canyon) struck out six and allowed two hits over 3 1/3 scoreless innings to pick up the victory for Jacksonville (Tigers) over Orlando, 6-4. . . . Designated hitter Rich Aude (Chatsworth) had three hits and drove in a run for Birmingham (White Sox).

Class A--First baseman Jon Schaeffer (Harvard-Westlake) hit a home run for Quad City (Twins) in a 5-4 victory over Kane County.
