Budget Approved for Airport Authority

The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority this week approved a $61-million budget for the 1999-2000 fiscal year.

Funding for the fiscal year includes $30 million for continued cleanup costs involving the Lockheed B-6 property, rehabilitation of a runway and an airport taxiway as well as construction of a new fire station.

The budget, which earmarked $1.25 million for legal expenses, anticipates a $200,000 reduction involving the long-running dispute over the terminal relocation project. It was approved Monday.

"The most important thing here is that we are moving forward with the cleanup of the Lockheed property, the site of our future terminal," airport spokesman Sean McCarthy said. "Otherwise, the other items are part of normal maintenance and safety projects."

Revenues to pay for the airport budget come from parking concessions, airport tenants, landing fees and other user fees, McCarthy said.
