Larry Krieger built up a six-second lead over his nearest competitor, cruising to victory in the NASCAR Grand Am Modifieds race in front of 2,472 at Irwindale Speedway on Friday night.

Krieger holds a 30-point lead in the standings over Rod Johnson, who finished second in the race.

Rip Michaels, Grand Am winner the last two weeks, came to ruin early. His car blew a tire on the fifth lap, and as Michaels pulled into the infield his brakes faltered, causing him to crash into the Speedway ambulance. Michaels, fell to third place in the points standings, 42 behind Krieger.
