The Indigo Girls have started work in Atlanta on a new album, with Sinead O'Connor's drummer, John Reynolds, co-producing and the Irish singer/newly ordained rebel priest's Ghost Band backing them. Guests will include Meshell Ndegeocello, the Band's Rick Danko and Garth Hudson, and Luscious Jackson's Kate Shellenbach. The album is tentatively due Oct. 18. . . .

Sheryl Crow, Dwight Yoakam and Marty Stuart have teamed on vocals for "Riding on a Dream," a song written by Stuart and country lyricist Kostas for the film "Daddy and Them," written, starring and directed by Billy Bob Thornton, with Ben Affleck co-starring. The film opens in October. . . .

L.A. deejays Jed the Fish of KROQ-FM (106.7), Jason Bentley of KROQ and KCRW-FM (89.9) and Christian B of KIIS-FM (102.7) are among 11 influential radio boosters of electronic dance music who have been commissioned to create new tracks for "The Torch Bearers," a compilation due in August from L.A.-based Risk Records. Others on board include New York's Liquid Todd, Seattle's Brian Beck and San Francisco's Aaron Axelson. . . .
