A discussion of labor issues affecting the local garment industry will headline a seminar Thursday at the California Mart in Los Angeles. The impact of new overtime laws, union organizing and new regulations governing the relationship between independent contractors and employers will be among the topics discussed. Speakers will include Joe Rodriguez, executive director of the Garment Contractors Assn. of Southern California; Roger Miller of the Bureau of Field Enforcement for the state Industrial Relations Department; and Herman Jett, area manager for the California/OSHA Consultation Office.
