Recently we asked about your pets:

* I have two pet rats named Ruby and Rosabelle. I put them on my back and give them horsy-back rides. They also go for a ride in my baby stroller. Rats are not yucky and their tails don't stink. Rats don't bite. They are good pets.

* I have a cat named Watermelon because the spots on her belly are like watermelon seeds. She spends all day on my bed. When I get home, she runs to meet me and I get a big "meow." I don't know if she is saying "Hello!" or "I want food." I hope it's "Hello."

* We have a 7-year-old pug named Bono. He is special because he is deaf. We bathe, play, feed and love him. We know he loves us because he is always wagging his tail, and his eyes are filled with love.

--Efren, 8, and Alice, 6, Garfield Elementary School, Bell Gardens

* I would like to have a real big horse. I want him to be white with a big tail. I would have a brown saddle with my name on it. He would be named White Thunder because of the noise he made when he ran. I would give him a sugar cube every day.

--Anthony, 7, Sylvan Learning Center, Glendora

* I have a golden retriever named Morgan. She is 7 years old, but not for long. You see, she has cancer. Even though she is ill, she still likes playing fetch with me and to have me scratch her neck or maybe play a quick game of tug-of-war.

--Alison, no age, Crestview Preparatory School,

La Canada

* I have a fish that is a swift and beautiful swimmer. He is dark and has a long fin. I give it lots of food. It's fun when we watch the fish on the bridge. When we look in the pond, most of the other fish swim away. My fish is very unique because it looks and acts differently from all the others.

--LaDana, 9, Windsor Hills Magnet School,

Los Angeles

* I have three green chameleons. Their eyes can move in lots of directions. I haven't named them yet. They eat brown crickets and sometimes little brown worms. They are coldblooded and they need a lot of water.

--Ryan, 7, Cornerstone School, Rancho Palos Verdes

* The kind of pet I would like to have is a baby snake. I would name him David. To take care of a snake you have to clean, feed and love it.
