Fullback Jaumal Bradley of Cal State Northridge is hospitalized because of tonsillitis and will miss the Matadors' Big Sky Conference game against Idaho State on Saturday at North Campus Stadium.
Bradley, a senior who leads Northridge with 198 yards rushing in three games, was admitted to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood on Wednesday after a week of suffering from a severe sore throat. The illness caused Bradley to miss the game at Eastern Washington last Saturday.
Bradley is being treated intravenously with antibiotics. He said he expects to be released from the hospital today.
"I'm feeling better today but it's a terrible way to be laid up," Bradley said. "It took over my whole throat. It was so sore, I couldn't swallow anything. A rain drop couldn't make it through my mouth."
Although he has lost more than 15 pounds, Bradley said he intends to play Oct. 9 at Montana.
"It's just going to take me a few days to get back my strength," he said.
* Defensive back Jermaine Hunsaker and defensive lineman Eric Falconer have quit the Northridge team, interim Coach Jeff Kearin said.
Hunsaker, a transfer from Washington State, left for personal reasons, and Falconer left because of injuries, Kearin said.
Neither was a starter.
