On a 5-0 vote, the City Council authorized the city manager to sign all training agreements between the city's Police Department and the California Highway Patrol for the two-week police motorcycle course at the California Highway Patrol Academy in Sacramento. The training course, funded by a grant, teaches law enforcement and safe motorcycle operation, emphasizing basic slow-speed maneuvering, emergency braking techniques, high-risk stops and motorcycle maintenance.
