Super Bowl

October 27, 1999|DONNA DEANE

The Infinity Bowl has seemingly infinite uses as a centerpiece. Put leaves or branches in its hollow underside, then fill the bowl with water and float seasonal candles. For Christmas, tuck pine branches and pine cones inside. Or try ribbons and pictures for birthdays, or flowers for spring and summer. One bowl, all seasons.

Infinity Bowl in four sizes, $16.95 to $44.95; votive $12.95; bag of silk leaves $12.95; harvest spray branch $7.95; leaf floating candles $3.95, from Illuminations in Pasadena, Glendale Galleria, Brea Mall and South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa.

Choc Blocks

Heavenly Scharffen Berger chocolate bars now come in 1-ounce sizes in the original Bittersweet dark chocolate, Nibby Bar with cocoa bean pieces and Mocha Bar made with Peet's Coffee. If you need a chocolate fix--and who doesn't?--the bars aren't too bad: One Nibby or Bittersweet bar will set you back 150 calories; the Mocha Bar, 145 calories.

One-ounce chocolate bars about $2 each at Angeli Caffe in Los Angeles, Wally's in Westwood and La Brea Bakery, Los Angeles.
