Police are searching for a man who forced a woman into a car at knife-point and raped her.
The victim was walking on Kewen Avenue at Van Nuys Boulevard about 1:30 p.m. Thursday when the man threatened her with a knife, said Los Angeles Police Officer Jim Zourek. The attacker forced her into a red, four-door compact car, possibly a Honda Civic, Zourek said.
The man drove the woman to a residential area, held the knife to her torso and assaulted her in the car, he said. Later, when the man was driving slowly in traffic, the woman escaped from the car, he said.
Police described the assailant as white, with short, brown hair with gray on the sides, 32 to 40 years old. He is about 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 10 and 165 to 180 pounds.
