Brush Fire Chars 25 Acres Near Magic Mountain

August 05, 2000

SANTA CLARITA — A brush fire near Magic Mountain charred about 25 acres Friday before firefighters put it out.

The blaze, which broke out about 2 p.m. on California 126, apparently was ignited by a spark from a disc cultivator that struck a rock, fire officials said. By the time it was put out about 90 minutes later, about 200 firefighters had responded to the fire.

Most of the fire was on land where Newhall Land & Farming Co. plans to build homes along and near the Santa Clara River, about five miles west of the Golden State Freeway.

No one was hurt and no structures were damaged.
