City officials approved a three-year lease to add two new electric vehicles to its automotive fleet as a way to replace ailing trucks and help the environment.

During a Monday meeting, the City Council unanimously agreed to spend $31,424 for two 2000 Ford Rangers that run on electricity instead of gasoline. The trucks will replace two gasoline-powered vehicles that are falling apart, city officials said.
