The city is reminding residents to participate in its green waste program, aimed at meeting state environmental standards that require cities to reduce the amount of trash they're sending to landfills by 50% by this year.

Residents can set out up to eight bags, barrels or bundles of green waste, which includes leaves, plants, grass, weeds and branches, at their curb each week. Bundles of trimmings and branches may not be more than 3 feet high.

A separate truck will collect the waste on regularly scheduled pickup days. The waste will be turned into mulch.
