"Cars 'n' Stars," screening series featuring movies in which cars play prominent roles, opens with George Lucas' "American Graffiti" (1973) and Monte Hellman's "Two-Lane Blacktop" (1971). Coming films include "Gone in 60 Seconds" (1974) and "The Gumball Rally" (1976), Saturday; "Repo Man" (1984), Aug. 18; "Bullitt" (1968), Aug. 19. "Hollywood Star Cars: Great Cars of the Movies" presents 20 famed autos from films, including George Barris' Batmobiles, 1966 Thunderbird from "Thelma & Louise," 1955 Chevrolet from "American Graffiti" and 1949 Mercury driven by James Dean in "Rebel Without a Cause." Riverside. "Rear View Mirror: Automobile Images and American Identities" examines how Americans have defined themselves through automobiles. Exhibition presents 150 photographs, including works by Alfred Stieglitz, Margaret Bourke-White, Ansel Adams and Ed Ruscha. Co-presented by Automobile Club of Southern California. Ends Thursday.
