Traveler's Notes . . .

August 13, 2000

Hawaiian Airlines and Aloha Airlines have discontinued their long-standing practice of charging higher inter-island fares for travelers who don't reside in Hawaii. As an example of the savings: Hawaiian's previous inter-island one-way fare was $94.50 for non-Hawaiians; now such travelers can get fares as low as $60.50, a spokesman said. . . . Visitors to Northern California's Sonoma County might want to check out a new Web site, http://sonomacounty.com, put up by the Sonoma County Tourism Program. It has good information on events, climate, parks and wineries. Some other sections are less useful, such as "restaurants" (eight listed as of last week) and "shopping" (two entries).
