THE SAFETY ZONE

Today's Tip

August 14, 2000

If your car, truck or SUV breaks down in heavy traffic, what do you do? Stay inside. That's the advice of the Automobile Club of Southern California. Here's some more advice:

* If possible, pull as far off the road as you can.

* Turn on your flashers to warn other motorists that you are having problems.

* If you have a cell phone, use it to call a towing company. If you break down in the flow of traffic, use the cell phone to call 911.
