HIGHLIGHTS

All these events will be happening between 5 and 8 p.m. PDT. Routine convention business will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. Each night will feature one or two "American dialogues," talk-show formatted discussions.

TODAY

Theme: Prosperity and Progress

Introduction: Labor Secretary Alexis M. Herman

Panel discussion on the economy moderated by New Hampshire Gov. Jeanne Shaheen.

Remarks by female senators, including Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein, both of California.

Speakers: First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton and President Clinton.

TUESDAY

Theme: You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet

Speakers: Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, Sen. Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts, the Rev. Jesse Jackson, former Sen. Bill Bradley of New Jersey.

Keynote speaker: Rep. Harold E. Ford Jr. of Tennessee.

WEDNESDAY

Theme: Al Gore: The Principled Fighter

Speakers: Vice presidential nominee Joseph I. Lieberman; Gore's daughter Karenna Gore Schiff.

THURSDAY

Theme: Gore's Vision for the Future

Wife Tipper introduces Gore.
