August 21, 2000|Matt Kieta, (949) 248-2158

San Clemente High School will receive $10.3 million from local and state bonds for infrastructure improvements, officials from the Capistrano Unified School District announced.

Much of the money will be spent on eight two-story portable classrooms to replace similar ones the school has been using for 20 years.

The school's theater will be renovated, landscaping improved and classrooms carpeted and painted, among other improvements.

The work will be paid for by $2.1 million in local bond money and $8.2 from state Proposition 1A money.

The improvements are expected to begin within the next 18 months.
