On the heels of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency citing two cruise lines for allegedly violating Alaska's air pollution laws, that state's Department of Environmental Conservation has jumped into the fray. It has issued notices of violation to seven cruise lines for excessive smokestack emissions this summer. The companies were given two weeks to file responses. Ultimately, Alaska's Department of Law will decide on assessing fines, officials said.
