Notre Dame might have a good football team, but forget bowling. When players stayed overnight on campus for three days last week, they went to a bowling alley in Studio City for a team competition.

The best bowler was defensive back Jesse Perez, who had six strikes and finished with a 174. Many others bowled in the 50s and 60s.

"We should stick to football," said assistant coach Joe McNab.

Alemany will unveil uniforms this season identical to the nation's No. 2-ranked college team.

"We'll look like Florida State [from] head to toe," Coach Craig Schuler said. "We're going to have the best-looking uniforms in the Valley."

The question is whether Alemany will play like Florida State.

Poly's coaching staff has engaged in a two-month competition to see which coach can lose the most weight.

At a City Section coaches' meeting, Coach Lee Jackson showed up with yogurt and an apple for lunch while coaches from other schools munched on doughnuts.

A winner will be determined on Tuesday and receive a pool of money.
