Woman, 40, Killed When Jaywalking

NORTH HOLLYWOOD — A 40-year-old woman was struck by a car and killed Thursday evening while jaywalking, police said.

The woman was crossing Moorpark Street, west of Colfax Avenue, when she was hit about 6 p.m., said Sgt. Roger Archambault of the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division.

The victim, whose name was not released pending notification of relatives, was not in a marked crosswalk, Archambault said.

The driver did not see the woman and was not cited, he added.

The woman was taken to Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, where she was pronounced dead.
