Damaged Cable May Delay Shuttle Launch

December 19, 2000|From Times Wire Reports

A brittle cable on space shuttle Atlantis' left booster rocket may have to be replaced and could delay next month's launch. Atlantis is supposed to blast off Jan. 18 from Cape Canaveral, carrying the U.S. Destiny lab to the international space station, Alpha. The damaged electrical cable was found over the weekend during an inspection ordered because of a circuitry problem that occurred during Endeavour's launch on Nov. 30.
