The Planning Commission unanimously voted last week to deny the Balboa Inn's proposal to build a two- and three-story addition for 11 new guest rooms and a partially open parking garage.

The commission denied the project without prejudice, meaning that the inn's management can do additional work to the plans, then resubmit the project for approval.

One of the problems is getting the inn's permits current. Also, some nearby residents have complained that the project could block their ocean views.
