The L.A. Ford Street race named past Indianapolis 500 winner Parnelli Jones as its grand marshal on Thursday.
"It's a great opportunity to be the grand marshal because I'm too old to drive," Jones said during a news conference at the Coliseum. "So this is a way for me to still be involved in racing."
The event, held on Labor Day weekend in previous years, is scheduled for July 15-16.
Four divisions of racing will be featured on a course that passes the Coliseum. For the first time, the race will be televised on July 16 from 3-6 p.m. on Channel 4.
Ticket holders to the Metallica concert featuring Kid Rock and Korn on July 15 will receive free tickets to that day's qualifying.
