Nine Nobel laureates of economics will be among more than 100 speakers and panelists participating in a three-day economic conference organized by the Santa Monica-based Milken Institute, a nonprofit think tank founded by former junk bond king Michael Milken. This year's conference, which runs Wednesday through Friday, will focus on technology. All panels will touch on the issue and 10 will deal with such topics as e-commerce, electronic trading and the explosion of the telecom, information and entertainment industries. Other topics for discussion are scheduled to include the impact of new technologies on established and emerging economies, the business climate in global sub-regions such as China, Latin America and Russia and major opportunities and risks in the new economy. The event will be held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. For more information, contact (310) 998-2605 or go to http://www.milken-inst.org.
