No Ride Home for Gore's Daughter

March 08, 2000|Associated Press

NEW YORK — While her father had visions of the White House on Super Tuesday, Karenna Gore Schiff wandered into a New York City twilight zone--she couldn't get a cab home from her victory gig.

Schiff, daughter of Vice President Al Gore, thanked supporters on her father's behalf at a Greenwich Village union hall, schmoozed with scores of backers and left the building with two Democratic aides shortly before 11 p.m.

The trio tried to hail a taxi in drizzling rain, but a steady wave of yellow passed them by. They hoofed it four blocks, and, with a little persuasion, snagged an empty black limousine.
