Oxnard Rolls Seven in Eighth and Trounces Glendale, 15-8

Robert Avila had four hits and drove in four runs, and Oxnard College defeated Glendale, 15-8, in a Western State Conference interdivisional game Tuesday at Oxnard.

Avila hit a two-run home run and a run-scoring double for the Condors (9-5, 2-2), who broke an 8-8 tie with a seven-run eighth inning.

Josh Sanchez had a double and a run-scoring triple in the eighth for Oxnard.

Jason Botts hit a home run and a double for Glendale.

Ventura 8, Valley 0--Kurt Probasco had two hits, including a two-run home run, to give the Pirates an early lead in a WSC interdivisional game at Valley.

Jeff Roberts (2-0) allowed no runs and five hits, struck out six and walked two in 8 1/3 innings for Ventura (8-5, 1-1).

J.R. Bierly had three hits and two RBIs for the Pirates.


Canyons 1, Ventura 0--Stephanie Blaire (6-0) pitched a one-hitter with four walks for the Cougars, who scored on a wild pitch by Yvette Carmona with two out in the fifth inning of a WSC interdivisional game at Canyons.


Pepperdine def. Penn State, 15-4, 15-4, 15-13--Five players reached double figures in kills and the No. 1-ranked Waves held the Nittany Lions to a .192 hitting percentage in a nonconference match at Pepperdine.

Scott Wong had 14 kills and nine digs, and Donny Killian and Andre Breuer each registered 12 kills for the Waves.

Pepperdine (13-1) stretched its winning streak to eight matches.


Rochester (N.Y.) 7, Cal Lutheran 0--The Kingsmen (3-9) failed to win a set in a nonconference match at Cal Lutheran.


Santa Barbara 8, Moorpark 1--Danielle Ouwendijk and Humaira Mirza picked up a victory at No. 1 doubles for the Raiders (2-4, 2-4) in a WSC defeat at Moorpark.

Santa Barbara is 2-0, 2-0.
