SRS Labs Inc. (SRSL) shares surged 62% on Friday after Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) bought a minority stake in the Santa Ana-based maker of technology for voice and audio products. Microsoft will also form a technology and marketing alliance with the company. SRS Labs wouldn't comment on the size of Microsoft's stake and said details on how the companies will work together will be disclosed in the next several months. Microsoft will have access to SRS Labs' audio and voice technology, including surround sound, to support its Internet offerings, portable and wireless devices, and video-game products, SRS said. SRS has licensed its products to more than 170 manufacturers worldwide. SRS Labs climbed $12.88 to close at $33.63 on huge volume.
