Our Times: Orange County Communities

Dana Point

March 17, 2000|Eric C Sanitate (949) 248-2152

The city is trying out two types of storm drain filters as part of a pilot urban runoff prevention program that water quality officials hope will be tried in other coastal Orange County cities.

Dana Point is testing the filtration systems in 21 of the city's 300 catch basins and storm drain inlets. The city will monitor the filters' effectiveness for the next several months before deciding whether to expand the program or purchase more of the filters they're currently using.
