Seal Beach

March 17, 2000|Alex Murashko, (714) 966-5974

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power has accepted a $4.5-million bid for its vacant 10-acre Seal Beach property from a hotel development company last week. Current zoning would allow up to 170 rooms for a hotel complex to be built on 30% of the parcel with the remaining land available for public recreation and open space.

The Los Angeles City Commerce, Energy and Resource Committee must first approve the sale of the property at the northwest end of Seal Beach next to the San Gabriel River channel. The property had been vacant for 30 years. The bid was made by the Bay City Partners, a Seal Beach development group.
