Crescenta Valley 1, Thousand Oaks 0--Julie Herrold's single in the third drove in Ashley Powell from third base in a semifinal game of the Downey tournament.

Nicole Angelo of Thousand Oaks (5-2-1) struck out eight.

Meredith Cervenka struck out 16 for Thousand Oaks in a 4-0 victory over Banning earlier.

Crescenta Valley (6-0) is ranked No. 1 in the region by The Times.

Simi Valley 7, Lompoc 5--Brittney Green and Jennifer Shields hit triples for the Pioneers, who scored their runs in the fifth to erase a 5-0 deficit in the third-place game of the Simi Valley tournament.

Green replaced starter Jamie Astorino (4-2) with one out in the sixth for Simi Valley (6-3).


Newbury Park 4, Peninsula 0--Chrissy Zappia gave up two hits, struck out eight and walked none for the Panthers in a semifinal game of the Downey tournament.

Amber Mastrioanni had a hit and drove in two runs and Joanne Sanchez drove in a run for Newbury Park (7-1), which defeated Torrance, 8-2, in a quarterfinal game earlier in the day.

Highland 13-1, Paraclete 1-0--Natalie Rawson hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth of the second game at Jane Reynolds Park in Lancaster.

In the first game, Nichole Rawson doubled, tripled and finished with three hits and two runs batted in for Highland (4-4).
