March 23, 2000|KARIMA A. HAYNES

Low-income families and individuals have until April 14 to take advantage of free tax preparation assistance offered by Cal State Northridge business students.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, offered through the university's College of Business Administration and Economics, provides assistance to people earning an annual gross income of not more than $40,000, officials said. Specialized services are offered to senior citizens, disabled individuals and non-English speaking clients.

More than 300 students are working under supervisors and IRS agents at 15 locations in the San Fernando Valley and throughout Los Angeles, officials said.

Service centers include the university campus, Granada Hills Library, Sylmar Library, Panorama City Library, Van Nuys Federal Building, Santa Rosa Center in San Fernando, McCambridge Park in Burbank and Los Angeles City Councilwoman Laura Chick's field office in Reseda.

For specific times and locations, call Raul Sanchez at (818) 677-4519.
