Temple Plans Purim Festival

* Temple Beth Haverim in Agoura Hills will have a Purim festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday with rides, games, crafts, food and entertainment. Raffle prizes include vacations, a mountain bike, show tickets, Laker tickets, Dodger tickets and baskets of gift certificates.

Admission is free. The festival will be at Willow Elementary School, 29026 Laro Drive.

Mass Schedule at St. Anthony's

* St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Oxnard will celebrate Mass at 5:15 p.m. today. The Sacrament of Penance will be from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Mass will also be said at 7:30, 9 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Spanish Mass will be said at noon and 1:30 p.m.

St. Anthony's is offering a "Lenten Wednesday With Jesus" series from 7 to 8 p.m. each Wednesday until April 12.

St. Matthew's Plans 2 Services

* St. Matthew's United Methodist Church in Newbury Park will have worship services at 8:30 and 10 a.m. Sunday. The Rev. Lynne Austin will deliver a message focusing on John 2:13-22. Communion will be served at both services.

Worship at St. Matthew's is relaxed and interactive with child care and children's classes during the second service.

'Faith Talk' Topic of Sermon

* United Methodist Church in Simi Valley will hold services at 8 and 10 a.m. Sunday. The Rev. Brandon Cho will speak on "Faith Talk: It's Cleanup Time!" using John 2:13-22. The Chancel Ringers Hand Bell Choir will perform.

Communion will be celebrated at the 8 a.m. service.

Child care is provided for infants and preschoolers. Sunday School for all ages begins at 9 a.m., and a Spanish service is at 1:30 p.m.

The Discovery Club for pre-kindergarten through sixth grade and youth fellowship for junior and senior high school students meet at 6 p.m.

A new adult study for Lent, "Cross Walk," will begin at 6 p.m. in the chapel.

Unity Center Church Holds Service

* Unity Center Church of Thousand Oaks will hold services at 10 a.m. Sunday. The Rev. Irma Oestmann will speak on "Pure Potentiality." Youngsters are invited to attend Children's Church in the upper room. Child care is available.

A teen ministry will begin Sunday with a free barbecue and family potluck.

Aspects of Jesus' Life to Be Studied

* "The Passion and Resurrection Narratives of Jesus" will be the Bible study program for men and women at St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church during classes from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. Tuesdays or 7:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays in the Lenten season.

The classes will continue until May.

Day of Recollections for Women

* The women of St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church in Thousand Oaks are invited to attend a Day of Recollections from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Serra Retreat in Malibu.

Presentations will focus on ways women are challenged to honor the needs of their bodies, souls and spirits. Presentations will be made by Sister Susan Olomstad, a member of the retreat staff.

A light lunch will be provided, and Mass will be celebrated after lunch. The cost is $18. Reservations will be taken until Sunday.

Special Shabbat Dinner in Simi

* Congregation B'nai Emet of Simi Valley will join synagogues throughout the United States and Canada in celebrating Shabbat Across America with a special Shabbat dinner co-sponsored by the CBE preschool at Valley View Middle School in Simi Valley, 3347 Tapo St. The dinner will take place at 6 p.m. Friday with a special service at 8 p.m. at CBE, 4645 Industrial Park St., Suite 2C.

Advance prices for the Shabbat dinner are $12 for adults and $7 for children ages 4 to 12. Prices at the door will be $15 for adults and $10 for children. Children 3 and under admitted free.

Am HaYam Invites Public to Service

* The public is invited to Congregation Am HaYam in Oxnard at 8 p.m. Friday for a service conducted by Rabbi Gerald Hanig.

At 6:30 p.m., a kosher Shabbat dinner will be served in honor of Shabbat Across America at a cost of $18 per adult or $9 per child. Reservations are required.

'Is Christianity Foolish?'

* Trinity Lutheran Church in Simi Valley will hold its April Christian Forum, "Is Christianity Foolish?", at 6:45 p.m. April 1. Dinner costs $3 each.
