Microsoft may have "invented" ClearType ["Making E-Books Easier on the Eyes," March 20], but it is not an original invention, just one Microsoft was not aware of. The technology was used 22 years ago by Steve Wozniak to enhance text for the Apple II display on TV screens. It has not been used since because it doesn't work well on standard monitors, only TV and LCDs.
