March 28, 2000

LANCASTER — Police searched Monday for a gunman who fatally shot a 19-year-old Lancaster man late Sunday, Los Angeles County sheriff's investigators said.

The victim, identified as Timothy Jackson, died at an area hospital, Sheriff's Sgt. Ronald Fernstrom said.

Investigators arrived at the scene in the 2300 block of West Avenue J-8 about 9:30 p.m. Sunday to find the victim with gunshot wounds to his upper body, officials said.

Witnesses told investigators that they saw a man flee the area in a maroon car.

Officials asked possible witnesses to call the Los Angeles Sheriff Homicide division at (818) 890-5500.
