2 Brothers Arrested in Stabbing of Deputy

May 04, 2000

PALMDALE — Two Palmdale brothers were arrested after a sheriff's deputy responding to a disturbance call in their house was stabbed, officials said Wednesday.

Roy Ericson, 26, and Leroy Ericson, 25, remained in custody. Leroy was booked on attempted murder charges and Roy on assault and resisting arrest charges, Sgt. John Hargraves said.

The brothers threw beer bottles when deputies arrived at the house in the 37400 block of Calle Mazatlan Tuesday evening, authorities said.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Deputy William McCormick struggled with Leroy, who pulled out a kitchen knife and stabbed McCormick in the left side of his back, Hargraves said.

McCormick was treated and released from Providence Holy Cross Medical Center on Tuesday evening.

"Both men were drunk, assaulting their own family and our deputies," Hargraves said.
