Northridge, Marciano Win Big Sky Golf

Anthony Marciano won the individual title by two strokes and helped Cal State Northridge capture the Big Sky Conference men's golf tournament Wednesday at River Ridge Golf Course in Oxnard.

Marciano finished at 67-73-73--213 and teammate Paul D'Ambra was fourth at 74-71-71--216.

Northridge had a team score of 287-291-288--866, with Idaho State second at 294-291-288--873.


Westlake 6, Moorpark 5--Tyler Adamczyk had a two-run homer and three runs batted in for the Warriors (19-3, 10-0) in a Marmonte League victory at Moorpark.

Aaron Garcia had two hits for Moorpark (14-8, 3-6).

Poly 10, Hollywood 0--Eduardo Baeza pitched a three-hitter and the Parrots (18-6, 10-2) held first place in the Sunset Six League with a victory in a game halted after six innings.

Miguel Gomez, Gabe Pena, George Carrera and Zack Sims each had two hits for Poly.

Newbury Park 12, Simi Valley 11--Joey Hamer walked with the bases loaded in the ninth inning to give the Panthers a Marmonte League victory at Newbury Park.

Matt Vroman had an RBI triple during a three-run ninth for the Panthers (9-14, 3-7).

Hamer had four hits, driving in two runs, and Tyler T. Smith had three hits and three RBIs.

Carpinteria 4, Oak Park 3--Paul Hernandez hit a solo home run in the seventh to give the Warriors a Tri-Valley League victory at Oak Park.

David Lamar hit a solo home run in the sixth inning to tie the score, 3-3, for Carpinteria (13-3, 9-2).

Derek Jacobi struck out eight for the Eagles.

Quartz Hill 13, Highland 10--Carlos Burkhart hit a grand slam and drove in five runs for the Rebels in a Golden League victory at Highland.

Jeremy Garstka doubled, tripled and drove in two runs for Quartz Hill (10-10, 5-6).

Jason Kubel hit a grand slam and had six RBIs for Highland.

Lancaster 11, Littlerock 3--Dusty Stowe had three RBIs, and Colt Walter had two RBIs and two stolen bases for the Eagles in a Golden League game at Littlerock (3-18, 0-12).

Josh Pratt had two RBIs and a double for the Eagles (13-9, 7-5).


Highland def. Quartz Hill, 15-6, 15-9, 15-8--Trent Sorensen hit .370 and Jon Moser had 13 kills to help the Bulldogs clinch the Golden League championship at Quartz Hill.

Sorensen had 15 kills and five errors in 27 attempts, and had 10 digs and four blocks.
