May 05, 2000

Corinthian Colleges Inc., a publicly traded owner of private post-secondary education facilities, said it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire substantially all of the assets of an Arizona school, giving Corinthian its first foothold in the Phoenix area.

The Santa Ana company did not disclose terms of its purchase of the Academy of Business Inc., which operates under the name of Academy of Business College. The deal is subject to regulatory approvals and certain other conditions.

The academy offers associate degrees in accounting, criminal justice administration, legal assistance, office management and technology, and information technology science.
