All Saints Hosts 'Bread of Life' Meal

All Saints Episcopal Church of Oxnard will have a week of activities beginning with a "Bread of Life" dinner in the parish hall at 5:30 p.m. today.

Worship services Sunday will be at 8 and 11 a.m., with a Spanish service at 9:30 a.m. African ministries gifts will be available in the parish hall at 12:15 p.m.

Classes Sunday will include a 9:30 a.m. adult lectionary Bible study led by the Rev. Warren V. Porter and a 10:30 a.m. Christian education for children.

A Christian spirituality meeting will be held in the parish hall at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday.

There will be a Holy Eucharist and healing service in Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

A Bible study class will be held at 1:30 p.m., and choir rehearsal will be in Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

A youth Bible study group will meet at 5 p.m. Friday.

Seminar to Examine Sexuality

Sonrise Christian Fellowship of Simi Valley will present the seminar "Redeeming Sexuality" from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today.

Archibald Hart, professor of psychology at Fuller Theological Seminar in Pasadena and author of more than 20 books, and his daughter, Catherine Hart Weber, co-author of "The Secrets of Eve: Understanding the Mystery of Female Sexuality," will present the seminar.

The public is invited. The cost is $20 per person and $30 per couple before May 1 and $25 per person and $35 per couple at the door.

Mass Schedule at St. Anthony's

St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Oxnard will celebrate a Mass at 5:15 p.m. today. The sacrament of penance will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

There will be Mass at 7:30, 9 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Spanish Mass will be at noon and 1:30 p.m.

Sermon on 'Just and Free World'

The Unitarian Universalist Church of Ventura will have the Rev. Dick Weston-Jones speak on "Principles of a Just and Free World" at the 9:15 and 11 a.m. services Sunday.

Minister Examines 'Positive Anger'

The Rev. Betty Stapleford, minister of the Conejo Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Thousand Oaks, will speak about "Positive Anger" at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Goeble Senior Center.

Religious education classes for children and child care for toddlers and preschoolers are provided.

Presbyterian Service in Oxnard

The First Presbyterian Church of Oxnard will hold a worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday. Pastor James K. Bain Jr. will deliver the sermon "Greatest Teachings of Jesus," based on Matthew 5:1-12. Communion will be served.

Child care is available at all services.

Sermon on 'First Time Ever'

St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Oxnard will hear from the Rev. Alan P. Gorsline on "The First Time Ever" during a service at 10:15 a.m. Sunday. Communion will be taken. No Sunday school classes for children will be held so they may stay at the service.

Methodist Church Plans Services

United Methodist Church in Simi Valley will hold services at 8 and 10 a.m. Sunday. The Rev. David Burgeson will bring the message, based on the 23rd Psalm. Communion will be celebrated at the 8 a.m. service.

Child care is provided for infants and preschoolers. Sunday school for all ages begins at 9 a.m., and a Spanish service is at 1:30 p.m.

The Discovery Club for pre-kindergarten through grade six and youth fellowship for junior and senior high school students meet at 6 p.m.

Methodists Selling Benefit Dinners

The United Methodist Shack will sell barbecue dinners for $6.50 at the Conejo Valley Days in Thousand Oaks this weekend, with proceeds going to charities including Habitat for Humanity.

The dinners can also be purchased at the church and eaten at tables set up there or packaged to go home.

Course Focuses on Insights of Soul

The Conejo Jewish Academy of Agoura Hills is offering a three-part course on the "Mystical Insights of the Soul" on three consecutive weeks beginning at 8 p.m. Monday.

Participants will study the Kabbalistic view of the afterlife, reincarnation and resurrection with instructor Rabbi Yosroel Levine.

Workshop Offers Tips for Parents

"Discipline, Self-Esteem and Motivating Children" will be the theme of a workshop sponsored by St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church in Thousand Oaks at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the church's Thomas Aquinas Hall.
