ALPINE--The sixth annual Magnolia Festival of the Arts, May 13-14, won't be on Magnolia Street because of renovations, but it will still include food, fine arts and jazz. Grassy area of the Viejas Outlet Center, 5005 Willows Road. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. both days. Free. (619) 440-6161.

REDDING--Redding Rodeo Week begins May 15 with Kids' Day at the rodeo grounds (9 a.m.-noon, free) and continues with a street dance down Market Street (8-11 p.m., free) May 17. Other activities include a pancake breakfast 5-10 a.m. May 19 ($3) and a parade at 10 a.m. May 20. Rodeo competitions are May 18-20; gates open at 5:30 p.m. Rodeo tickets: $4-$40; ages 12 and younger free on May 18 and 19, but tickets are required. (800) 874-7562; tickets (530) 241-8559.

GRIDLEY--Volunteer firefighters will take the lead on Red Suspenders Day, May 20. Food, entertainment, arts and crafts, games and a children's area are highlights, along with a parade at 11 a.m. Hazel Street. 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Free. (530) 846-3142.

KING CITY--4-H members will be out in force May 18-21 at the Salinas Valley Fair. Festivities include a carnival, rodeo (May 21 only, 9 a.m., free) and entertainment. ANGELS CAMP--Watch out for leaping frogs as you make your way to the Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee, May 18-21. Activities include a children's parade, livestock competitions, art exhibits, a rodeo, carnival rides, frog-jumping contests, concerts and fireworks. Fairgrounds, two miles south of town on California Highway 49. 8 a.m.-11 p.m. May 18 and 21; 8 a.m.-12:30 a.m. May 19 and 20.
