How to Get a Refund From Tower Air

May 07, 2000|TIMES STAFF AND WIRES

Tower Air, a low-cost airline serving Los Angeles, New York, Tel Aviv and Paris, ceased operations last week. The airline, founded in the 1980s, had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in March.

A recording on Tower Air's reservations number last week advised travelers to contact their travel agent or credit card company for a refund.

Kristina Rundquist, a spokeswoman for the American Society of Travel Agents in Alexandria, Va., said: "If you have booked through a travel agent, all you need to do is contact the travel agent. . . . They'll take it from there." Consumers holding tickets who did not book with an agent will have to start with a call to their credit card company, she said.
