Bloomquist Makes Difference

Willie Bloomquist, who was promoted to triple-A Tacoma for two weeks, returned to the JetHawks on Sunday and made an immediate impact in an 8-6 victory over San Bernardino. He had a run-scoring triple in the fifth inning, tied the game in the seventh when he scored after a walk, two wild pitches and a steal, and delivered a game-winning, two-run double in the eighth.

Triple A--Reliever Mike McMullen (Glendale College) improved to 2-1 and lowered his earned-run average to 1.00 for Fresno (Giants) in a 7-3 victory over Edmonton. . . . Pat Ahearne (Pepperdine) allowed four hits and struck out three in seven innings for Tacoma (Mariners) in a 2-0 victory over Sacramento. Ahearne is 4-0 with a 3.72 ERA.

Double A--Chris Garza (Notre Dame) struck out three in three hitless relief innings for New Britain (Twins) in a 9-5 victory over Reading. Garza improved to 2-1.

Class A--Garret Lee (Glendale College) notched the victory and is 1-1 after working 2 1/3 scoreless relief innings to help Myrtle Beach (Braves) defeat Potomac, 6-1.
