The Police Department's Community Policing Team will honor eight people for contributions made toward improving their communities.

Earle Moriarty, Ron Breach and Earl Kelso are being recognized for their weekly nighttime flashlight walks as part of their efforts to fight crime in the Kodiak neighborhood. Debra Gray, the property manager of El Dorado Inn and Valencia Inn keeps police abreast of problem tenants. Albert Figueroa has been a steady supporter and participant of neighborhood cleanups. Alison Emil of the Mental Health Assn. and John Aliberti of Orange County Social Services have worked closely with police on homeless issues. And Michele Morton, property manager of 54 apartments on Lemon Street, has been actively involved in that neighborhood.
