Robinson, Kuzmic Power Lancaster to 9-1 Victory

Bo Robinson hit a two-run home run to highlight a four-run fourth inning and Craig Kuzmic hit a home run and drove in two runs for Lancaster in a 9-1 California League victory over the High Desert Mavericks on Friday night at Lancaster.

Chris Mears (3-3) scattered six hits and gave up one earned run through 6 1/3 innings.

Double A--New Britain (Twins) reliever Chris Garza (Notre Dame) held Akron scoreless in three innings, allowing two hits and striking out three in a 5-3 victory in 12 innings. . . . Catcher Andy Dominique (Alemany) had a home run and a double in a 10-3 victory by Reading (Phillies) over Portland. . . . Right-fielder Kurt Airoso (Cal State Northridge) hit a three-run home run for Jacksonville (Tigers) in a 12-3 loss to Mobile. Reliever Angel Aragon (Channel Islands) struck out four and gave up one hit in two innings for Mobile (Padres).

Class A--Visalia (Athletics) scored twice in the bottom of the ninth to make reliever Wayne Nix (Monroe) the winner over Mudville of Stockton, 11-10. Nix (3-2) struck out five in six innings and allowed four runs, one earned. . . . Right-fielder Fernando Rios (Glendale High) had three hits, including a double, for Clinton (Reds) in an 8-7 loss at Dayton.
