If the thought of setting the table for that special holiday dinner has you whirling, think about visiting the Laguna Design Center in Laguna Niguel today. The Orange County Philharmonic Society, in conjunction with the center and House Beautiful magazine, will present table settings designed by Southern California interior designers.

"What these designers are doing are really over-the-top designs," said Linda Colton, the center's president. "Complete vignettes will give people ideas for decorating."

Colton said as many as five designers are doing tables in each showroom. "We're crazy with creations," she said.

Two speakers also are featured. At 10 a.m., Michael R. Payne, host of HGTV's "Designing for the Sexes," will discuss the most common design issues between men and women and offer suggestions for resolving those conflicts.

At 3 p.m., Lynne Barry Roe, photo stylist and story producer for the "Tabletops" section of Romantic Homes Magazine, will show creative alternatives for making holiday table settings unique.

Tickets are $20. The Laguna Design Center is at 23811 Aliso Creek Road, Laguna Niguel. Information: (949) 643-2929; http://www.lagunadesigncenter.com.
