Supervisors Order Trees for Yards of New Homes

November 15, 2000

LOS ANGELES — The old political adage "a chicken in every pot" got a new spin from the county Board of Supervisors on Tuesday as it ordered a tree in every frontyard.

Specifically, the county required any new residential development in unincorporated areas to include a tree in the frontyard of every house.

The precise species of tree will be chosen by the developer, in consultation with local fire and planning officials.
